Writing as Ministry

Have you been called to use your God-given gift of writing to help spread the gospel?

Join us for a 6-week course to help you find your niche. Each week, we will explore how to organize, write, edit, and publish a specific Christian genre.

Week 1: Devotionals

Shaping the pattern, Scripture choices, personal testamony, and prayer of a devotional book.

Week 2: Sermons

Write sermons that teach, shepherd, and touch the hearts of your congregation.

Week 3: Inspirational Stories

Do you have an inspiring story you know would benefit those around you? This lesson will help you put your inspiration into a fictional or nonfictional setting and help change people's lives.

Week 4: Christian Historical Fiction

Craft a scripturally-based historical fiction that is authentic. Build proper research and develop accurate characters who belong in their history but speak to those in ours.

Week 5: Study or Group Curriculum

Do you have an idea for a small group or study class? Organize your thoughts into a curriculum you can present to your administrative council and then launch with your small group. 

Week 6: Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth

Now you have your manuscripts. Let's talk about how to get them published. 

Instructor: Rev. Dr. Evelyn Rainey, CEO ShelteringTree.Earth, LLC, Director August Isley Books, Award-winning published author. Evelyn has a masters in Sacred Theology, PhD in Religious Studies, and a Doctor of Practical Theology. She is ordained through the Esoteric Interfaith Seminary and is a Certified Lay Servant in the United Methodist Church.
